Our programme includes Andrew Campling’s atmospheric Fantasia on Hymn Tunes, dedicated to his mother Anne (1933-2016). After the interval, we hear Mozart’s Requiem K626, one of the finest works of the Classical repertoire.
In the words of Karl Geiringer, Mozart’s Requiem is a composition ‘as transcendental as it is human, and out of tremor and guilt it leads us towards peace and salvation’.
